Bring historic British craftsmanship into your home with this St Albans Abbey inspired tile stencil, influenced by the beautiful medieval encaustic tile designs found within one of England’s most iconic cathedrals.

This stencil draws inspiration from the intricate geometric and botanical motifs traditionally used in historic encaustic flooring. These tiles were crafted using coloured clay inlays rather than surface decoration, allowing the patterns to remain vibrant for centuries. Our stencil captures that same timeless character while making it accessible for modern decorative projects.

STENCIL CARE

Laser Cutting Marks

Due to the nature of our process, you may notice slight discolouration around the cut edges. This is a natural result of laser cutting (light burning) and is more visible on opaque materials like self-adhesive Mylar. It is purely cosmetic and does not affect the stencil’s performance in any way.

Flattening Larger Stencils

Larger stencils are shipped rolled for practicality and cost-efficiency. If your stencil arrives curled, simply lay it flat for a couple of days. For quicker results, you can place it between two towels and press gently with a warm iron.

Peel & Stick Stencils

Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, or debris before application. When the adhesive loses tackiness, wash the stencil in warm soapy water and let it air dry. It will regain its tackiness once dry. You may use spray adhesive instead of washing if you prefer not to wait.

The longevity of the tacky backing varies with use and conditions, but it can always be reactivated or supported with spray adhesive if needed.
